I am new to the brands and painting mediums in the us so i’m unable to decide what to buy.I have been using daler rowney oil paints and when i ran out of a couple of colors i purchased artists loft brand because the price was right.I have worked with oils, watercolors and some student quality acrylics earlier using brands not.I hoped that i fall in love with it when i touched the first page.
I initially purchased because it has 55 pages = 110 sheets and it had a canvas cover that i could paint/draw on;I just looked up some images of birds on my ipad and just decided to sketch some birds.I love nature and i think i will start taking more time to sketch some wild animals and birds.I pulled out my inexpensive artist loft gouache i bought in the winter and decided to paint some birds.
I received a color set called art alternatives with totally different colors and quality.I saw artist’s loft gouache paints at a michael’s hobby and craft store near me.I’ve ordered the actual artists loft brand many times before and this was not it.In this painting i used:

The artist loft paints seem to me like they have more oil in them than pigment.The pans stay in place thanks to a protective sheet, but you can also take them out individually and use the tray.The set is for intermediate and it does the job well, the paint though when you put it in the palate does dry a little fast but since it’s water color just add more water.The titanium white is almost clear.
They only cost a measly 5 dollars for a set of 12, 0.41 fl.This is not the artists loft brand that is pictured.This past friday i cracked it open for.Today, i’m trying the artist’s loft paints from michaels.
