Hutch and buffet makeover by the 36th avenue.I am so excited to share with you one of my absolute favorite pieces of furniture to repurpose.I could repurpose the mirrors which were a plus.I decided to remove the back and replace the entire piece.
I first shared this post two years ago as part of our furniture fixer upper series!I found this one on facebook marketplace for $20.00.I gave it a good wipe down to remove any dirt.I gave the dresser a bit of distressing here and there before waxing with dark wax.
I had to put baking soda in the drawers for a few days and really.I have a couple of old dressers in storage just waiting for their new purpose.I hope you have found an idea for that old dresser you’ve been holding in storage, or perhaps the one you’re currently using but have been wanting to replace.I just redid a beautiful dresser hutch i got for a friend for a whole $5 and i’m obsessed with how it turned out!
I painted the hutch in a gray chalk paint finish.I said, no way, but this gives me hope!I scored this hutch at the thrift store for only $60.I sold almost all the furniture i had left in my booth in january, so i needed furniture to flip, and fast!

Strip the wood turned legs down to bare wood.The actual dresser part has a small shelf set that sits on top to make it like a hutch.The back was a mirror and part wood.The combo includes brackets, and 100% new zeland pine wood craftsmanship.
The space under the canvases on the far wall always looked so bare to me, and i just knew that it needed a little something.Then i dry brushed dark wax over everything and i focused on getting it into the crevices.Then i looked for knobs that would go with the gray chalk paint color.There were two mirrors total and the length would make a (look for a blog post about this soon)!
This chalk paint dresser makeover is a small hutch but, a dresser all the same.This is an awful picture taken at night, but you can see the difference between the dark wax all around the bottom and the rest of the dresser that just had clear wax on it.This paint has a long dry time, so it is very important to keep that in mind when recoating.Two coats of paint to the exterior on the friday evening.
